Apple Park drone videographer: "Don't fly your drones over The Park, it's frowned upon!"

Since construction started on Apple Park years ago, the world has been treated to beautiful aerial imagery of the corporate campus from drone pilots Duncan Sinfield and Matthew Roberts. Today, Sinfield posted the video seen below on his YouTube channel along with a note that indicates that Apple might be using anti-drone technology to detect sUAS and that it's "only a matter of time until the campus becomes shut-off to drones completely."

The truth is out there: "mysterious lights" turn out to be drone show test

No, it wasn't a coordinated attack by UFOs. A Flint Township, MI woman, Kaylin Adams, was driving north on I-75 returning home when she noticed "mysterious lights" in the sky. The sight was so impressive that Adams and other motorists pulled over to watch the lights, and Adams captured video of the floating colored lights. Her video grabbed over 200,000 views and 5,700 shares on Facebook, but it turns out the lights were 30 drones being tested for a drone show.

Verizon's flying femtocell drones could restore communications quickly after a disaster

Video: Aerones Wind Turbine De-Icing Drone In Action

When it's cold and humid, airplanes and huge wind turbines have the same problem -- they accumulate snow and ice, which disturbs the airflow over the wings or blades. On wind turbines, that accumulation can hamper the turbine's ability to produce electrical power and even stop the blades from turning. A Latvian firm, Aerones, has come up with a tethered industrial drone that is used to de-ice wind turbines, and this video shows how it's done:

Whoops! Drone crashes into Apple's new "spaceship" headquarters building

In my other life, I'm an Apple blogger and write about the world's largest technology company daily. On occasion, the worlds of Apple and drones collide, and in this case they literally collided. An unnamed drone pilot was using what appears to be a DJI Phantom 4 to overfly the new One Apple Park Way headquarters building in Cupertino, CA when the drone went out of control and tumbled down to the top of the building.
